The final entry in the series discusses the history of how patents and trademarks. It also goes into detail about how even the late Steve Jobs discusses how Apple stole much of their ideas. The entry also discusses the social copy, transform, and change and how memes play a part in it. Check it out and remember support this independent project!- Imran
The third entry in this amazing series deals with the actual process of how things came to be. Copying the blueprint, transforming it to our liking, and adding your own to it allows creation to happen. This entry talks about past artists, inventors, and designers who took previous inventions and designs and made something new from it. The entry also talks about Apple and the personal computer and how Apple was ahead of its time by setting prices low (Compared to the other Personal computers at the time) and by having unique properties such as a one button mouse and other abilities. The concept is correct because as streetwear grows and evolves, designers adapt from the past and add their own twists to it. Watch this entry and if you can donate to this cause, It’s definitely worth it.- Imran
So the second part of the series deals with the fruit salad of all movies; Star Wars. Shocking as it sounds George Lucas’s epic space film was actually a product of ideas and thoughts from several movies before it. As streetwear designers and lovers of art, BxC has long tried to maintain originality in any situation. Though were new to the streetwear game, Our idea’s and processes are ferocious and we try and embody that through our lifestyle. As such watch this episode and enjoy.- Imran
So the gist is this; nothing is original. Though the concept of originality has long sustained itself in the medium of art and culture there is a lining under it. Artists have for the longest have made covers of other artists, rap artists freestyle on other’s beats, and of course music samples other music. It’s a constant recycling process and one that people have payed little attention to. However artist who paint, draw, sketch, model don’t see it in that way. However the inspiration from a majority of artist is their environment. The artist really just remix things. Check out the first part of this 4 part series. - Imran
Lil B is coming up with more music than the storage of your damn ipod or other mp3. His newest mixtape which didn’t have hype was released today and it is smooth sailing for the self made artist. “The Basedgod” has dropped a 32 track mixtape that is blended with freestyles and other soothing songs that are “very based”. Water is D.M.G Part 1 is in one word: amazing. With a slight hint of his past (tracks like Yes I’m Geeked and My Diary PT4) there is a new side of Lil B, a more calm and what seems to be a laid back version of the social media maser. Throughout tracks 1-16, there are songs that are soulful and very tasteful, not too much of the hard hitting party worthy songs, but they are smooth and bring back some old school hip hop (still very based though). These first tracks are much more carefully made and the craftsmanship in the lyrics is seen in them. After track 16 however, we enter the realm of true based music, with nothing holding “The Basedgod” back. The freestyles are all transparent and they’re ‘based’ so there can’t be much of a negative view on it. Sprinkled in with the freestyles, are some “rare” or “collectible” tracks that sound lo-fi, but aren’t, they are just noise that will have your head bumping and wanting more from Lil B. This mixtape is a well done blend of Lil B and his broad variety of work. His talent can be seen well in this mixtape and it’s a mixtape worthy of putting out in smoke sessions, chilling out the crowd that passes the joint to the left. - Daniel
Honestly, this duo does not need any explanation or a description, it’s Snoop and Curren$y, talking about weed. These are the best 7 minutes ever spent. - Daniel
Skruncha-roo, although the name sounds like a woman’s hair product that can do multiple things, the name belongs to an artist that comes from Houston. With dubstep coming to it’s death from it’s 15 minutes of fame, there is still some room left for great mixers and producers that have amazing talent to create and blend together music in ways that seem unimaginable. Yes, Skruncha-roo, is one of those producers, but his sound is unique and it easily makes an impression on the audience, with amazing intros to the tracks and a powerful usage of harmony and even flow. His work is a tad bit old (released in march) but it’s date shouldn’t keep you from downloading it. The 5 track album is incredible as it gives a delicate sound of hip hop instrumentals with some new age electronic vibes (no 80’s synths) and some vocals from a variety of sources. The tracks are all layed out well and the album as a whole is beautiful with a great flow as one track ends and another starts. Its sound will have you interested and it would be great for sessions, with it’s well done tone and almost spacey feel. Download this album, you won’t be discouraged. - Daniel
Lil B is hard to explain and it’s because of his broad and very versatile style on the rap game. His persona and his mind can never truly be understood and that slight mystery is what gives his target audience more interest and much more anxiety over what Lil B will do next. His new music video is simple, just like the other hundreds, they include “The Basedgod” in an urban area, half naked and lip syncing while cooking. His music videos are all simple and can be considered pointless, but the music is what should be listened to, the music is what lures in the people, it’s the gold, it’s what Lil B sells. With a mad flow and an abundant amount of uneven rhymes, Lil B comes with a single that does catch your ears and will have you addicted to the hook. I mean, he’s gonna go out robbin, and shoppin! - Daniel
Kanye and Jay-Z dropped the third visuals from their magnificent Watch The Throne and no doubt about it its powerful imagery. The rioters protesting against the police echoes the wall street protests and the protests going on around the country and the world. Though WTT was released last summer, the director choosing these images of riot police bashing protesters, Molotov cocktails sailing through the air, and the general anger of societies tired of inefficient government is perfect. The music playing along with these scenes kind of sparks an emotion that when it comes down to it society will self destruct only to become better as a phoenix rises from its ashes, so to must society. It will be better for the general good of humanity.- Imran
The Don Nas dropped this visual gem to us today and it’s probably one of the most heartfelt videos I’ve seen in the longest. It starts from the beginning of his daughter Destiny Jones’s birth and the trials and tribulations that they go through as a father and daughter. It’s a surprisingly open look in the life of Nas’s life. Nas goes into detail about everything including his fears for his parenting in the past including how difficult it was to raise his daughter, the boys with whom Destiny was interested in, and more recent things like Destiny’s twitter pictures. Nas really set one of the tones of his album with this deep song and as hip hop lovers should be ready for Life Is Good dropping July 17, 2012.- Imran
Gucci Mane comes to the public again with another mixtape, hosted by DJ Holiday again too, this doesn’t mean that this mixtape will be a repeat and lame. Yes, there are a few recycled verses here and there, but it’s Gucci, what more do you expect? He delivers with his hooks and laughable, yet well done, lines that will have you attentive and wanting more from the man self named after an expensive brand. There is a small skit that does smack you in the face with today’s reality and how kids are now doing exactly what they see, Kansas is the track and it’s quite the banging song with a bass that is catchy as hell. Aside from the head bobbing instrumentals and the lovable lyrics, there is another thing to notice on this mixtape: the feature list. Nay, this mixtape isn’t just all Gucci, it has guests like 2 Chainz, Jim Jones, Lil Wayne (who apparently is into the 70’s wild bush), TI, and many more. With a handful of well chosen features, well written lyrics, and amazing instrumentals, this 21 track mixtape is a must to download; it’s sure to have you screaming BURR at everyone you see as you roll down the street with this mixtape blaring out of your car, with the possible drugs that may be inside with you. Bottom line: download it, it’s a must to the Gucci collectors and to even those that don’t normally like the ice cream fanatic. - Daniel
For years 50 Cent was known as bringing the mixtape to the mainstream audience. Well today 50 brought things back with his Lost Tape with DJ Drama. So how did this fare? Amazing actually. With 2 Chainz, Eminem, Kidd Kidd, and production from the likes of Araabmuzik and others 50 doesn’t slack at all. Though the entire tape is a triumph, the track produced by Araabmuzik and featuring Eminem is probably the stand out track. Normally I don’t dig 50 cent too much but this is too ferocious to ignore honestly. Check this tape out and see what’s up.- Imran
Joints are one thing, but try to take things one step further, like this boat for example. It takes 7 joints to make this oceanic crusader! Granted, this is more like a complicated pipe with many openings for joints, but it’s still craft and high quality craft at that. (pun fully intended) with this as a template, build your own and make something crazier! A whole new world of joint making is opened with something like this in the picture. - Daniel
Ratbox is a new snazzy band with a unique and very likable sound. They blend classic jazz and twist it in so many ways, mixing it with soul, punk and raw, classic rock. Their talent is easily heard as they make guitars cry out and bring it into melody with their drums and bass. They released an EP on the 13th of May and with it’s 4 tracks, it had me begging for more. Their mastery of this sound is incredible and very admirable. Opening up with an almost elevator music like track, they make it into something like a signature, a sweet and pleasing, melodic sound. They create nothing but pure dopeness. They don’t just make soothing jazz for stoners, they have a female singer that goes very well with the music and she has some smooth lyrics as well. Ratbox has a more modern take on Miles Davis and they seem to have a unique respond to jazz. They’ve outdone themselves and deserve to have a listen with their EP. And with a “name your price”, you might as well should download it for free, but be considerate, think about helping the band with a few bucks, if you’d like. The bottom line for this EP: download it, you won’t be discouraged, it will make any session one to remember. - Daniel
So when I first heard Mac Miller I liked the guy. The K.I.D.S mixtape was very well done and was in constant rotation in my playlist. Then Best Day Ever came out and I lost some respect for the young cat because that tape wasn’t a progression it was just another mixtape. Then when I heard of MACADELIC I knew I had to give this mixtape a chance to see what was going to happen. MACADELIC in my opinion is probably his best full bodied tape. His sound is graduated and the production is a full pantheon from his usual collaborators I.D. lab to Hannibal King to Sir Michael Rocks. Mac’s lyrics are deeper then before and his guest features fit each track like a track suit. Kendrick of course destroys his verse and Lil Wayne does the usual one liners and spastic lyrics about women and other pervasive things. The track Lucky Ass Bitch of course has the most trippy mane alive Juicy J who adds his powerful ignorant powers to the track. Mac matches him with lyrics about girls doing lines of coke off his dick which speaks to his lyricism as an emcee. The entire tape should really be considered a street album because the average mixtape does not go to lengths such as this. Download it and listen friends.- Imran
